CICW has awarded Vital 91ÁÔÆæ, Vital Preaching Grants for over 20 years to teacher-scholars and worshiping communities in 45+ states and provinces and across 40+ denominations and traditions—including Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, non-denominational, and other Protestant communities.
While worship styles and practices vary greatly across these traditions, the grant projects typically explore at least one of CICW’s ten core convictions related to worship. Explore the hundreds of projects we’ve funded across both streams of the program.
To engage a growing population of people who identify as spiritual, but not religious, and to increase awareness of God's presence in daily life by hosting a monthly worship series that draws connections between familiar secular music and the gospel.
To strengthen public worship and witness by building capacity in the music ministry, instituting a public worship event, and creating an outdoor mural.
To promote cross-cultural healing, prayer, and community unity among and beyond three participating churches by teaching the practice and history of drum circles as worship.
To increase community awareness of the Moravian Christian tradition and welcome worshipers from other Christian traditions and religious backgrounds to experience faith, love, and hope through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
To promote spiritual healing and renewal, cultural expression, and deeper connection between the congregation and the broader community through the development of a weekly gospel jazz worship service.
To study and practice blessing one another and the wider community by emphasizing the theology of blessing in worship and by practicing embodied blessing of others in outdoor venues.
To deepen worshipers' experience of the beauty and majesty of God in this church's unique space by engaging with the stories of the art glass windows lining the worship space.
To engage the neighborhood community with radical hospitality through creative worship by establishing an arts residency program and community arts events.
To develop music, art, public ritual, and worshiping vocabulary by and for “exvangelicals” to deepen worshipers’ understanding of God as friend, companion, and liberator.
