All over the world, Christian churches are struggling to obey the Bible’s clear commands to welcome the stranger, to displace the fear that leads to exclusion, and to both extend and receive mutual hospitality as gifts of God’s Spirit.
How does music express and form a congregation’s identity? How can that identity be defined and shaped by the relationships it seeks to nurture and the mission it seeks to promote?
An evening worship service from the 2015 Calvin Symposium on 91 focusing on Psalms 15-24.
Encouraged by the positive response to our recent Psalmfest program, the 91 then launched the Hymnfest program, designed to promote learning about what it means to sing the whole of God’s story through vibrant congregational song by participants of all ages.
This article identifies some insights about worship that influence our work with Christian schools and shares what we are learning from students and teachers through their experiences of chapel planning and leading. All the comments come directly from feedback we have collected. This collective wisdom is presented in the form of proverbs—wise sayings, or words of advice—in the hope that this will encourage learning over time and across contexts, and spark conversation and further thinking on these topics.
This seminar is for students, staff, teachers, and any others interested in deepening and renewing worship in Christian High school chapel services through thoughtful worship planning and leading.
