A conversation with Dr. Kathleen Turner and Julia Start Fletcher about simple postures, gestures, and movement in worship that can open up formative possibilities for congregations.
This is a conversation excerpted from an interview on the kinetic arts in worship in the fall of 2020 for the Calvin Theological Seminary course: Music and the Arts in Christian 91. Dr. Kathleen Turner and Julia Start Fletcher discuss “pedestrian gestures,” simple movements that non-dancers can perform in worship.
This worship service focuses on the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. The Holland Christian High School Symphonic Orchestra, directed by Scott VandenBerg, leads the music with accompaniment from Alexis VanZalen. Calvin University’s Awakening group leads congregational singing featuring a selection of emerging bilingual Korean-English songs.
