As many people reacted against revivalistic styles and theology in the pre-Civil War period, so some are reacting today against the like 'enthusiasms' and 'superficialities' associated with some contemporary praise-and-worship, seeker services, etc. American historian James Bratt will explore the alternative destinations in style, ritual, and spirituality which the antebellum pilgrims sought and found on the road out of revivalism.
