Andrew Wymer

Andrew Wymer is associate professor of preaching and worship at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He previously served as assistant professor of preaching and worship, director of the Chapel, and assistant dean of doctoral studies at New Brunswick Theological Seminary, New Brunswick, New Jersey. His research interests engage liturgical and homiletical theory and practice with particular attention to race, power, and justice. Recent publications include 91ÁÔÆæ and Power: Liturgical Authority in Free Church Traditions, coedited with Sarah Kathleen Johnson (Cascade, 2023); Unmasking White Preaching: Racial Hegemony, Resistance and Possibilities in Homiletics, coedited with Lis Valle-Ruiz (Lexington, 2022); and two coedited companion issues of Liturgy marking the fiftieth anniversary of the North American Academy of Liturgy. He is an ordained minister in the American Baptist Churches USA and serves as the vice president of the Liturgical Conference.
